Harris Receives DHS Order for Tactical Radios; Steve Marschilok ...

Harris Corp.?has received $7 million in orders to deliver public safety and tactical communications systems to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its component agencies, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Under the five-year $3 billion DHS tactical communications indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract vehicle, Harris will provide the U.S. Coast Guard with Falcon III? AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack tactical radios to be installed across the Coast Guard fleet.

?The Coast Guard is using this important procurement vehicle to deploy Falcon III? radios, while DHS is rapidly implementing a Harris P25 system,? said?Steve Marschilok, president of Harris public safety and professional communications.

The radios operate at multiple waveforms and are expected to provide the Coast Guard interoperable tactical communications with local, state and federal agencies and the Department of Defense.

We deliver ?solutions that integrate tactical and land mobile radio systems and bridge the needs of civilian and tactical responders,??Marschilok?added.

Harris will also provide the FEMA center for domestic preparedness a standards-based P25 land mobile radio system to train first responders in recovery tactics for response to critical homeland security situations.

DHS and partner agencies, including the?State Department, the Department of Justice, the Department of the Interior and the White House Communications Agency, can procure Harris products through the TacCom contract.
